I waited for the light to come back again
So I could study you
But ever the enigma
You clung to the shadows, made friends with the umbra

I made an artform out of inertia
A hideous homage to everything I’ve lost
It’s a melted wax collage of each successive downfall
And a portrait of a man who flew too close to the sea

It feels a lot like history’s repeating
But the only common thread is me, prostrate and bleeding
The scent was caught again, the fox eviscerated
But the hounds they only maim, they never end the misery
